A large junior school in Portsmouth, consisting of over 50 separate rooms/areas, ranging in size from 300m3 to 24m3.
Our client contacted Sanondaf Hampshire South two days prior to the start of the new school term in January 2021. The head teacher explained that COVID safe measures in place, as per government and local council guidelines, were no longer proving as effective in preventing Covid-19 transmission within the school. Increased positive case numbers had been confirmed during the final weeks of the Autumn term and into the Christmas holidays.
Following a site visit and in-depth discussion with the head teacher and site manager, to review current infection prevention and control measures, Sanondaf Hampshire South recommended a regular weekly mid-week total environment treatment to remove any viral aerosol build up in the building and help break the chain of transmission. Combining the benefits of our dry fogging and electrostatic treatment methods, an entire site treatment is achieved each week within 3 hours, without disruption to the school staff, pupils or families.
Since commencing the weekly treatment’s in early January, (despite a large number of key worker and vulnerable children attending and high case numbers within the wider Portsmouth community) the number of confirmed cases in the school has remained very low. Even once faculty began regular lateral flow testing.
As a result, Sanondaf Hampshire South have been asked to continue the disinfection treatments into Spring, when pupil attendance numbers are expected to increase.
